OK at this point you might want to roll back if possible and reapply the update. Sorry for all the back and forth I was just trying to make sure that was really what you're going to have to do before I told you to do it.

Once you're in the users folder, can you open anything inside that? Or are you stuck there?

Also, if you get a change, go to run and type c:users, and then once in that folder, press win+up-arrow. Expected behavior is that it will move you to the parent folder. It's the official keystroke for this so we want to find out what happens.

OK, use the run workaround for a bit, but don't do anything drastic, we're researching over here but John is thinking it's something to do with actual Windows and he's the Windows guy I'm Linux. +

Is this when you load Narrator, or when you go to the run dialog and type c:users?

Yes we should totally catch up sometime.

What happens when you go to the run dialog and type c:? Does it still close the window on you or does it behave like it should? Sorry if I already asked that I'm sort of multitasking.

Just to add one more bit to this, are you trying to access your C drive or another drive? If another drive, what happens when you go to the run dialog, type e: or whatever and then press enter?

So it opens your home directory and then immediately closes the window?

Ctrl+win+enter.

Unload Jaws and load Narrator and see if win+E is still broken.

OK which screen reader are you using? John is using Jaws, and I'd have to test with NVDA assuming he's updated that, but I just want to get an idea of what your setup looks like. If NVDA, can you try running without addons?

I just checked on John's computer, and pressing win+e works fine. Can you go to the run box with win+r and type c:users and press enter? The reason I'm asking is because you may be having a problem with your explorer shell.
