@georgetakei You know another great way to ally? Use alt text on your images so those of us who can’t see them can be clued in to what you’re talking about. It’s really disheartening to see a prominent figure who I admire and who regularly promotes inclusion not get in on the alt text bandwagon here. It helps so many, not just blind people like me and it’s not that difficult once you get in the habit, at least that’s what I’ve seen a lot of people saying around here. Think about it, please. And thanks to all of you already using alt text. It makes a big difference.

Afternoon fedizens, we’re doing sunday. I hope all of you are having a good one.

I slept last night, but not very well, so I’m tired today. On the other hand, it’s supposed to get to 75F today, so that’ll be nice.

We have lots of sportsball today. My Braves play in a little over an hour, the Rays start ten minutes later, and my Vegas Golden Knights start at 1500. We haven’t decided yet if we’re just going to keep the book going, or listen to one or more games.

Speaking of books, John and I have been rereading some of the Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport books. Those have established spots on our rereads list, and we’ve been enjoying randomly picking a book and rereading that.

Unless something revolutionary has happened since the last time I took a college math course in 2010 or so. And yes, I'm aware of attempts to fix the situation from the assistive tech/other technologies end. This is why I'm not a fan of the bring your own accessibility strategy, however much I may understand +

@bryansmart @cordova5029 @simon Ah yes the good old days of the Reading Edge. I didn't get my first laptop until 2001, and was mostly done with college by then, so I remember hooking up one of those big 4-track recorders so I could get the audio output. And math plus physics plus economics all had separat e tutors and tons of out-of-class lab time to get the work done.
