Just spitballing here, but it seems to me that a lot of trouble could have been saved had Trump simply targeted China and only China, instead of fucking with the entire financial system. This is of course assuming that his “plan” was to go after China all along, as his defenders now seem to be asserting. Spoiler alert: There is no plan and this isn’t 4d chess.
