How can we have killed the headphone jack while the real killer, PDFs you must sign with adobe acrobat, walks free? Justice is dead.

@film_girl @anildash While I don’t want to argue with you about your definition of fun, I would say that calling Bluesky objectively more fun is going a bit too far. When you’re blind like me and Bluesky hasn’t made the effort to consider how its interface makes every single thing I do unnecessarily hard by not taking accessibility into account in its initial design phase, it’s hard to say that Bluesky is fun.

@Rickster1963 Good afternoon Rick, I hope things improve for you anxiety wise.

When an inconvenient fact undermines the powerful, it’s dismissed as a “left-wing” talking point.
Until the fact becomes harder to deny.
After years of mostly shrugging it off, the mainstream media is acknowledging that corporate greed is a major force driving inflation.

I can see this becoming a more common headline, just replace the publication/service name.
Twitter might be experiencing a content drought soon due to people not auto posting.

@SarahBreau @delong LLMs don’t abstract; humans have to classify the training set for them. That this was done by underpaid people in the third world has been one of the reasons to suppose the corporate actors pushing LLMs are perhaps not a value of ethically reliable the rest of us ought to be OK with.
There’s a shedload of harm happening now. It’s happening because greed is a sin, not because of some spectral possibility of an inhuman intelligence.

I dunno, I don’t begrudge anyone their choices about how to social media, but I’m just done with providing free beta testing and Thought Leadership to another commercial service to help them reach exponential growth.
If the service matures and cross-federation is possible I’ll enjoy following good people on Bluesky or wherever. I’m just gonna sit out the part where I’m acting as unpaid QA.

I want to publically thank great allies like @mmasnick and @caseynewton for advocating on behalf of disabled people on #Bluesky. When it’s clear that not much effort has been made to incorporate #accessibility in the design of Bluesky’s interface, influencial people like Mike Masnick and Casey Newton are speaking up to try and change the culture. We see you, and we appreciate you.

Do you know often you use #encryption? 🤔
You may not notice all the daily encrypted interactions you have, but you surely would notice if your private data was accessed because of a lack of strong encryption.
Take a look at a day with encryption 🔒👇

It’s really depressing sometimes that a perfect cautionary tale 1984 was written and Handmaid’s Tale was written and even Fahrenheit 451 was written about destroying books but in the end they just ban those books from existence with the stroke of a pen.

♫ I am a language model of a modern major general
I’m trained upon a giant mass of textual material
I’ve billions of parameters and answer questions various
Responses range from perfect to unwittingly hilarious
I’m very well acquainted too with matters mathematical
As long as with correctness you’re not overly fanatical
While many complex queries I can easily elucidate
I have an awkward tendency to freewheel and hallucinate ♫ -

Kinda tired of the whole “I made a lot of money building the Torment Nexus but now I quit and am warning you about the Torment Nexus (buy my book)” redemption arch for tech people we seem to have settled on.
