Pretty rich for Google, which has spent the better part of the last fourteen years doing its bit to fuck up the web, to tell us all "Well, you see, the web is broken, so we need to use AI to fix it." Jee if only there were a large advertising company pretending to be a browser and search company that could publicly demonstrate that it's learned from its mistakes and even roll some of them back and prioritize the things we all know make the web an enjoyable place to browse instead of just force-feeding us more of the latest hype.

So apparently you cannot export an OPML file from either iTunes or Apple Podcasts, and I wish I had known this before I started using Apple's podcast stuff because I want to switch to Overcast and have found all this out today. Not a happy camper.

Get in Babkans and other fedizens, we're doing Monday.

We're taking advantage of the abnormally low temperatures. The high's only supposed to be 75F (23C), so we have all the windows open and I've dragged out some lite pants along with a long-sleeved shirt. I don't think I'll regret this.

Also, welcome to the second half of 2024. It's all downhill from here.

I love this part of Noshmim Mizrahit's broadcast.

On Friday, after 1PM or so Israel time, it starts transitioning to what can safely be called "Shabbat mode", where the music and banter takes on somewhat of a joyous religio-family tone, the kind you only find in Mizrahi circles, and people call in to wish each other and everyone Shabbat shalom and the like, along with sharing the names of people who need prayers/good vibes and such for people to remember at candle lighting. It's a nice distinction from the rest of the week.

Get in Babkans and other fedizens, we've made it to Friday.

In case I don't get to it before the end of today, Shabbat shalom to everyone observing Shabbat, and to the rest, have a wonderful weekend.

Other than the usual end-of-week things, I plan on coasting through today.

We decided to order burritos for dinner. While we were looking at the menu, I described probably the largest burrito in the place to John, and he wanted that one. I tried to tell him it was huge, but he swore it was just like a sub.

He ended up being defeated by the burrito, because it was a stuffed footlong that weighed several pounds.

Right now we have the windows open enjoying the breeze and the much cooler weather, at 75F (23C), and I'm enjoying my first beer of the night while I laugh at my husband.

Have we figured out whether or not the Louisiana school for the blind is getting Ten Commandments displays in Braille yet, or are they just getting posters and the teachers are going to have to spend ten or so minutes describing them to all the students like some sort of messed-up reverse-woke Zoom meeting speaker intro? Asking for some friends.

Get in Babkans and other fedizens, we're doing Thursday.

Because this is the worst possible timeline, I've spent most of today fighting with my computer, which apparently had a bad time taking on a Windows update. And because Microsoft still automatically installs its honking updates automatically instead of asking permission, and then tries to go into stand-by afterward instead of just rebooting, we get the hot mess that is rollback without a screen reader. So now I'm finally getting everything running.

Good thing I don't have any meetings today.

Get in Babkans and other fedizens, we're doing Wednesday.

I finally got Tunein working on the PC, so today's playlist is Noshmim Mizrahit while I work and do chores.

John and I had a huge breakfast this morning because we both woke up feeling like we could eat the world.

Other than that, I'm just waiting for the laundry to come back so I can finish the usual Wednesday chores.
