Kind: Notes

It's Patch Tuesday so I should probably close down everything before I go to bed so when Windows restarts itself I don't have to restart again to correct for stand-by nonsense.

Woohoo! Activity goals met again today!

Get in Babkans and other fedizens, we're doing Tuesday.

Today has been busy, and my activity stats reflect this, which is a good thing because I'm bent on keeping this week's streak going.

We put in a small grocery order and I dealt with that, every dish we own is clean with the exception of the ones we've used today so far, and now I'm finally sitting down at my desk to get some web development done.

I was going to go outside for a bit but it's super humid out there. Today is promising to be a hot one, with temps getting up to 92F (33C), so I think we're officially in the thick of summer at this point. It's going to be a long one.

I'm trying to decide what I want for dinner. Getting hungry again.

All my activity goals are met for today.

Being able to edit Mastodon posts is awesome.

Oh a thing I forgot to mention earlier.

Google is apparently upping the hostility game by stealth-blocking Youtube when visited using Firefox. It signed me out yesterday, and every time I tri to sign in, it just hard redirects to the /oops page. I even tried turning off UBlock Origen along with ensuring I'm signed into the right Google account. No dice. But when I use Chrome to browse to YOutube, just like magic, Youtube works just fine. Guess we can add this to the list of how to make people hate you tactics Google seems to be bent on employing.

It's early but lunch has been consumed. Minus beers, which I might have later. I was very hungry for some reason.

I think I may have solved a thorny work problem, (yay Pods Framework), and I think I'm going to just repeat yesterday's lunch, including the early timing.

Other than that, I hope everyone's having a stress-free day, and, if you're not, that the stress is at least tolerable.

We're waiting on a huge grocery order.

So after a day or so of using Overcast as opposed to Apple Podcasts, I have to say that my favorite feature so far is being able to use overcast.fm to play podcasts on the desktop. There are some accessibility issues with the player, but you can operate it with a keyboard, and each episode gets its own page. This means I can listen to podcasts while I work should I choose to.

I love reader mode.

God the block button is amazing.

Oh wow it actually did make it to 86F (30C) today.

Although I'm glad I have a desktop, I sometimes miss having a notebook computer. Mostly because I hate typing things on the iPhone.

New #indieweb trick on my part: I'm using Pocket to store the things I'm reading that aren't books, and I've set up an IFTTT recipe to post a read to my site whenever I save something new to Pocket. It seems to be the most accessible way of doing this. I tried with Inoreader, but couldn't figure out how to get IFTTT to just pull from the read pile over there. And since I don't use Pocket for the thing it's intended for anyway, I figured this would work. And I'm pleased to report that it does.

We're thinking of doing homemade burgers tonight for dinner. I'm looking forward to this.

If your username has all kinds of ASCII art in it, or you use ASCII art in your posts, not gonna lie, I hate you. Mostly because screen readers do not know how to interpret half this stuff, and so I try to just scroll past. I hope you're not trying to say anything important.
