@jamminjerry @seedy And look, I get it. If you were taught braille as a child, and that's how you initially learned to read, it's tempting to conclude that blind people who can't read braille must be illiterate. But that's just not how literacy works.

@jamminjerry @seedy I know people who consume screen reader speech output at 1,000 words per minute, process that info and interact with it every day. They are definitely not illiterate.

@seedy @jamminjerry Sorry I'm just so pissed at stuff like this. It's gatekeeping bullshit that creates yet another barrier for blind people, to say nothing of neurodivergent people who also happen to be blind, along with blind people who lost their sight later in life, and grrrrrrrrr!
