@seedy @jamminjerry Braille is definitely useful in certain situations, like reducing cognative load. Blind children should absolutely be taught braille. But statements like "blind people who can't read braille are illiterate" are (1) factually incorrect, and (2) the kind of crap holding blind people back. I’m convinced Republican politicians don’t actually believe mental illness causes gun violence. But they do it because they just know that demonizing people with mental illness has no political consequences and also that doing so buys them enough time to feign outrage until the next mass shooting dominates the news cycle.
