@Bruce @techsinger @EdenLinnea Don't get me wrong. You should feel good about the choices you've made. It's just that I think you might be falling into the trap of oversimplifying something that several issues bound up in it. If blind unemployment were this straightforward, it would have been solved two decades ago. Instead the unemployment rate has remained amazingly steady.

@gocu54 @techsinger @EdenLinnea So speaking as someone who has run their own business since 2007, the "little engine that could" mindset that starts off this thread is certainly useful, but honestly drastically over-simplifise the nested problems that make up the issue of blind unemployment in the U.S. And having a parent who works in government doesn't really provide useful info because that's an entirely different animal than the private sector. So while I'm not going to say that things like networking and blind people making sure they're employable aren't important parts of this, there's a little too much blame the blind going on here for me to take this as anything other than an instance of posting to feel good about one's choices or beliefs.
