@thomasjwebb@mastodon.social "Freedom" and "Liberty" in American conservative ideology are terms as devoid of content as "Freiheit" was in Nazi propaganda. Virtually everything they see as a threat to their "freedoms" involves challenging their place at the top of the social hierarchy and their way of life as the norm. Having to tolerate the existence of LGBT people and POC, and witness them being themselves in public, is "oppression." Criticizing them in any way is "oppression." The only way they can be "free" is to live in a society populated entirely by people like themselves.
Federal Court: Service Providers Can’t Be Sued Over User-Generated Content, No Matter How Creatively The Allegations Are Framed by Tim CushingTim Cushing

Attached: 1 image Sen. Marco Rubio just wrote this editorial regarding a potential TikTok ban. It's apparent to me that his gripe isn't with TikTok's surveillance or algorithms or data collection per se. It's that a Chinese company is doing it. Apparently, if TikTok were American, they would be peachy keen. But Chinese? That's bad! I don't like TikTok, and I believe it's generally an evil corporation. Yet I also dislike how Sen. Rubio is pushing yellow peril. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/tiktok-other-social-media-controlled-enemies-must-banned-now-we-cant-wait-longer
