“smart” speakers like the Amazon Echo are all the rage in the blindness community right now. But there are some significant privacy concerns with these devices, and I’d like to see some discussion about that coupled with all the hype and recommendations to blind consumers.

Writing a note on a site I have full control of, shoving that note to social media as a status post, and then collecting all the reactions and comments back on my own blog so that the entire conversation is in one place. These are all things that will never get old.

Dear blindness organizations: I know Google gives you tons of money and everything, but can you not hand them accessibility awards like sexual favors traded in a back alley? Can you at least pretend you have standards other than money? KTHXBye

Dear Microsoft, your shitty password reset process is the reason why people choose simple passwords. I can’t stand security theater, and this is a shining example of that.

I launched the Facebook app on my phone, and … why the hell would anyone want to use this thing? This is a pile of hot garbage.

I think I’m going to get myself a copy of “A Hero’s Call”. I still have Alter Aeon to play, but AHC looks incredibly awesome and I need to make a conscious decision to do more things this year that are fun.

We have a windchill of 32F (0C) here in Augusta so yeah I dragged out the thermals. So over this cold.

I did not get to read anything for my book challenge today, and I’m slightly disappointed about that, but only slightly, because I’m tired. Good night browser. Good night screen readers. Good night Tenon. Good night Thunderbird. Wednesday’s on the other side.

Testing one more time, both to Twitter and Facebook, this time without a photo. For the FB crowd, apparently Facebook will allow me to publish photos minus my provided alt text, while Twitter will not allow me to publish photos at all. Death to all silos. Kill them before they kill the open web.

It is with great sadness that I have come to the conclusion that it is time to abandon WordPress post formats in favor of straight no chaser indieweb post kinds. These really do appear to be much more easy to extend both in and of themselves, and with in WordPress.

Current status: Helping Denise breathe new life into her Jobina blog, which I’ve missed. Also, yelling at technology and rebelling against the fact that I really shouldn’t sleep in tomorrow. Maybe sleeping till 7 is acceptable. Oh well, if it’s not, screw it. I’m doing it anyway.

Welcome to 2018 everybody. Kick ass, take names, be kind to yourself, treat those you interact with in real life or online as human beings, and only spend the balance in your bank of fucks on those who earn it.

Drunk New Year’s Eve social media is amazing and hilarious.
