I need to figure out how to migrate all the podcasts I have in Downcast on my old phone to my current phone. I think I'd listen to more of them if I didn't have to be stuck at my desk to do it, but my podcast subscriptions are somewhat disrupted right now between devices.

Granny Weatherwax: “sin, young man, is when you treat people like things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.”
Mightily Oates: “It’s a lot more complicated than that–”
“No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
“Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes–”
“But they starts with thinking about people as things…”

Fighting ‘Woke AI,’ Musk Recruits Team to Develop OpenAI Rival (The Information)

OK let me get this straight.

Musk criticizes the content safeguards GPT3 (and probably GPT4 too), use as woke, and therefore wants to build an alternative, which I am supposed to believe will not use fewer content safeguards. It’s gonna be that anti-woke thing that magically turns out to not be bigoted that we keep being promised.

Anti-woke shit ends up at bigotry every Goddamn time, and yet I am supposed to pretend these are people of goodwill bla, bla, bla.

If the US wasn't a superpower, I'm pretty sure we'd all be in talks to discuss banning American media along with TikTok. The US culture war is going to slowly poison the rest of western society and before long every country is going to be descending into fascism while yelling about woke mind viruses or some other made up nonsense. https://www.theinformation.com/articles/fighting-woke-ai-musk-recruits-team-to-develop-openai-rival
