Humble request from a fediverse long-timer: Can we please not do the "boost this tootif" practice? It marries the "like/retweet if" of Twitter and "Copy this to your status" of the Book of Faces and those are two of the worst parts of big social and I would absolutely love it if that doesn't become the new normal around here. Thanks.

There’s a lot of chat on the bird site by disabled people who are scared because it is such an important means of connection and support for them. @thewebmusician Home shows posts from people you follow. Local shows public posts from everyone on your instance. Federated shows all posts from instances your current instance talks to (e.g. if someone on that instance follows someone from another instance, you’ll see their posts in federated).

A couple years ago, Facebook went HAM on people using their icons/logos etc in plugins on WordPress.org
Looking at Twitter? Yeeeaaaah if you have a plugin that uses Twitter, I would seriously rethink. You can close your own for the most part and honestly I would just shutter anything not super popular. They’re gonna go legally annoying.

The thing that’s amazing about Elon Musk’s Twitter is he’s handled it worse than my wildest expectations.
Like when he announced he was buying it, I thought I was going to have to quit out of some hard-to-convey sense of moral unease, like the way I quit Facebook.
Instead, it’s like he coated himself in SpaceX jet fuel, crashed his Tesla right into Twitter HQ, then stumbled out of the wreckage to light everything he touches on fire.
All while shouting: “The Holocaust never happened!”
