A few recommendations for life on Mastodon:
1) Follow anyone you think looks potentially interesting; you can always unfollow later, and they may lead you to new people via boosted posts.
2) Boost posts you think are worthy, so others can discover new content.
3) Don’t obsess on replicating your Twitter follows on Mastodon; let it be its own experience, and grow it organically. Obvs follow anyone you miss from Twitter, but this isn’t a 1:1 replacement; have fun, follow your instincts.

The Atlantic:
"Elon Musk’s Brutally Honest Management Style
Unapologetic awfulness is preferable to Silicon Valley hypocrisy."
Me:
No it's not what the fuck is wrong with you are you an actual sociopath?
-
capitolhunters:
Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma – but not in science.

If your boss ever asks if you’re prepared to get hardcore, put on some Black Flag and then break their nose

Me: gasping for oxygen on Mars
Elon: this isn’t very hardcore of you -
I have performed an unscientific survey of people who are working in coding and cybersecurity to see what language they use most often.
The result: profanity.

If you have a #WordPress site, try a new free WordPress logging plugin we released a few days ago:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/trunc-logging/
It generates a log file to track logins, failed logins, plugin changes, post changes, etc.
Pretty useful from a security perspective and adds visibility to what is happening within your site.
Feedback welcome!

I think it's great that Twitter may finally be adding end-to-end encryption for DMs, at least according to strings in leaked code for their Android app. But I have questions: First, who's going to build it, given the state of staff and who's going to ensure it's done right, given the lack of security staff? Because it would be very bad to claim end-to-end encryption only to find out that it's not actually encrypted when there's a massive data breach. #infosec #privacy

This came in handy today. Attach a formatted date (or anything, really) to the post JSON returned by the #Wordpress REST API https://adambalee.com/add-a-formatted-date-to-the-wordpress-rest-api-json-response/
