Telling me that I’m going to be the next Helen Keller, or <insert disability activist here> is like me running after you and desperately, determinedly proclaiming, oh my god, you’re so inspirational, you’ll be the next thomas edison! If you are not a carbon copy of whichever famous person or big figure from the past you most relate to, we’re not either. that is essentially telling us we don’t get to be our own person because we have the same disabilities as another person. we don’t much like it.

At what point are people going to realize that NYT and CNN won't be shamed out of their rightwing asskissing? Yes, what they're doing is dangerous and irresponsible, whether CNN's shitshow tonight or NYT platforming dangerous and willfully disingenuous whataboutism about trans people. But being shocked about it? Folks: have you not been paying attention? how many times recently have they done things like this? Because we can count more than a few times. It's deliberate. Name it.
