If Medium put their blogs on the Fediverse, we’d be one step closer to having a replacement for Substack.
Although it would be even more ideal if Ghost could join the Fediverse. Hell, why hasn’t that happened yet?

My bot that informs you of status changes of GPS and Galileo satellites was sadly banned from Twitter. But, with only a little bit of work, I’ve been able to move it to Mastodon! Please follow @GNSS_Changes if you get a kick out of learning about problems in space!

@Pawpower I hate asparagus so you can have that, but the rest sounds good and I would switch in a different veggie.

@thedarktangent Narrator: It will absolutely take the next generation because the current generation and its voters refuse to learn anything about any of this.

If you’re wondering what the rainbow pentagon thing is that a lot of accounts use, it’s the Fediverse logo :fediverse:
It’s a public domain / CC0 design, its original designer shared a high quality copy at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fediverse_logo_proposal.svg
It represents all the different server types that make up the Fediverse (https://fedi.tips/what-other-kinds-of-servers-are-on-the-fediverse/)
(Note: There can be no official logo on the Fediverse as there’s no central authority to make anything official. However, this logo is by far the most widely used one.)

in the grand tradition of joining mastodon and liking computers again, I made a tiny new website for the first time in one hundred thousand years

@mattnavarra @ubiquity75 The image is a screenshot of a tweet from Chris Messina. It reads as follows:
“And, it’s done. I’m no longer legacy verified. Not that I care (I don’t), but this is as good a time as any to bid farewell. So long, and thanks for all the hashtags.”
Chris then appends a screenshot of his Twitter profile with a red circle drawn around the place his verified mark used to be.

“technical debt” implies the existence of predatory technical lenders
“hey kid, you wanna write that code using our framework? it’ll be easy at first”

Public Service Announcement for #wx warnings and alerts. If you are afraid of missing #weather warnings and alerts for your area due to the fiasco over on the birdsite, follow the “IEMBOT” bots we have put up here on the #Fediverse – THESE ARE NOT DEPENDENT ON TWITTER. You need to look up your Weather Service office (for example, mine is Los Angeles, LOX) and find the bot, ie @iembot_lox — or say Boston, @iembot_box (office abbr. here: https://training.weather.gov/nwstc/sysinfo/sites.html) #NWS #NationalWeatherService

When I first created tech.lgbt, Mastodon was only a few months old.
I originally set it up on a very small server on 15 April 2017, which would have been v1.1.2. We’re on 4.1.2 exactly six years later. Three full major releases in!
On a personal note, I’ve had lots of ups and downs on the fediverse, but I am glad to be able to help make a space for queer folks who like bappy computer thingies. :bowie: :bowie_heart:

@theglobalvoice Welcome to the fediverse, or at least Mastodon. You'll find that Mastodon is your gateway to the wider fediverse, and also that there's a ton of other stuff to explore here: Bookwyrm for books, Funkwhale for music, and you can follow users of other apps all from Mastodon.

@ANGELGIRL1976 Most of your weather stuff will likely go away, as most of those accounts use the API to automate posting and that's done as of yesterday I think.
