Afternoon fedizens, we’re doing Wednesday.
I didn’t sleep well last night, so despite having a bunch of stuff to do today, it still hasn’t gotten done because I spent the morning being lazy and I’m still tired. I have a feeling this is the beginning of my sleep schedule going through another round of fuckery.
Coffee has been consumed as of a few minutes ago, and I’m trying t o figure out lunch.
I’m not sure I’ll be listening to any baseball tonight.

Hugops to every other #mastoadmin having to deal with this spam wave. We have been fighting is on mastodon.social for days, and were forced to close registrations yesterday until we could emergency-deploy countermeasures.
Unfortunately, this made them realise they are other servers in the Fediverse to target.
If any admin needs help fighting this, please ping me either on the server admin discord, or directly here, and I will gladly help. -

Great NPR article over the weekend on Gertrude Oforiwa Fefoame, the blind chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. I highly recommend you read it! Key sentence, “How do you define disability?
It is not the presence of the impairment, but it is the social and attitudinal barriers that are hindering our performance.”

The good news here is not just that the IRS will debut a “prototype system to allow Americans to file tax returns digitally and free of charge” in a pilot test next year—it’s that the IRS was smart enough to get help from the U.S. Digital Service instead of rounding up the usual government-contracting suspects. And this is probably at least one of those suspects, Booze Allen Hamilton, is finally trying to hire a senior web accessibility specialist.
I’m so glad we have an administration and a president who actually gives a shit about accessibility, and plan to do everything in my power to keep the Republicans from regaining the presidency since they continue to demonstrate that they couldn’t care less about web or any other kind of accessibility, and continue to fuck up everything they touch with regard to technology.

@munchkinbear Aw man that sucks.

maybe for GAAD you could hire a disabled person to do something other than tell you how your product can’t work for them and then resent them for it

Good afternoon fedisons, we’re doing Tuesday.
Before I go any further, by "fedisons", I mean all my people using Mastodon and any other ActivityPub powered software, plus the O-status and ActivityStream folks, and let’s not forget everyone using #indieweb building blocks like webmention and micropub.
Anyway …
John and I both had soup for lunch, and we have pleasantly full tummies. We got a very late start this morning. Neither of us got up until after 9, and I didn’t get on the computer to do any work related stuff until after noon. I’m not quite sure I’ve had enough coffee, but it’s approaching 1400 hours and I don’t need to sit here all day and drink coffee.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to really try to make my move goal or not today. I don’t really feel like it. The weather is great though, and we have all the windows open. We’ll probably keep them open for a couple more days since it’s supposed to be clear.
Conference finals for the NHL end on Thursday night, and John and I are both looking forward to that. Go Knights!
