for the last year or more above me in the mornings i hear what seems to be someone coming into a room and then a ball being dropped at a low height.

the sound of a ball bouncing several times in lessening heights is unmistakeable and its like totally perplexed me what was going on.

Mastodon may not be perfect, but it sure has gotten pretty awesome lately. This week the community boosted a discourse on the tautological placename etymology “Torpenhow Hill”, which actually translates to “hill, hill, hill, hill”, and a one billion year time lapse animation of two galaxies colliding. We registered our collective outrage at CNN, featured amazing artwork and photography, and recognized scientist Grace Hopper, inventor of the first compiler. What’s not to love!

Last I checked viewers dictate what is popular, not what the networks think we should be watching.

Forcing an insurrectionist into our living rooms was bad enough. Telling us we should like it is beyond the pale.

The FDA DID NOT end its ‘ban’ on blood donations. It EASED the restrictions. There is a MASSIVE difference.

Before:

Men who have sex with men must ABSTAIN from sex entirely for 3 months to donate.

Now:

People who have sex with a NEW partner, or more than one partner, in the last three months, cannot donate. And still no anal sex for 3 months before you donate.

Slightly better? Yes.

Now EVERYONE is being judged by the same criteria. But…. To say “No anal sex for 3 months before you donate” is STILL primarily targeting gay men.

And that is not better.

I remain perplexed, since it’s not like the labs aren’t checking donations to make sure you don’t have some surprise disease (I know someone who learned they had leukaemia from a donation).

Make a note and let them donate.
