@DianaThompson Yeah that's what I'm trying to get at. Definitely modernize WP's editor. Classic absolutely has problems. But do a block editor with accessibility in mind from the get-go. That would be amazing.

@DianaThompson Yeah I expect it's pretty awkward for non-screen-reader-using keyboard users too.

@DianaThompson Skiplinks could be helpful, but I honestly think the most helpful thing would be for the block editor to stop trying to be Microsoft Word on the web, because the document object model available for Word, which screen readers absolutely need, will never be available to the browser. So everything in that path is trying to reinvent a wheel you can never have.

@DianaThompson I don't mean to suggest that the accessibility team and others aren't working hard to fix it. But it's such a complex app that trying to bold on accessibility as an afterthought will never be done, because regressions keep happening.

@DianaThompson There have definitely been lots of accessibility improvements, but honestly the whole thing is just an efficiency nightmare while using a screen reader.

@objectinspace I mean look I don't think he's actually going to encrypt DMs. I think he's just making another promise in the dark which the media is all too eager to swallow. (Well, and old relatives, but let's not go there). I'd actually congratulate him though if he actually did it and implemented it well. Not holding my breath though.

@objectinspace Well yeah noone's going to literally do that. And given the stuff with the Twitter Files, he's already demonstrated he'd hand them over with enough motivation.
