Catnip. Kitten.

Shenanigans are happening, mostly down to high as a kite Pixie trying to figure out why a wall won’t open instead of a door. It is hilarious to listen to her getting more and more annoyed, and then storm off and go through the open door. I swear she just gave a surprised mrow?! at the fact the door was in fact, open all along.

I’m half tempted to keep the catnip given how many cats use the yard as a way through the area. Best one was this cat that shot up a tree to chase a bird, while high (spoiler alert it was a squirrel), critter went from tree 1 to tree 2

Cat forgot how to jump, and landed on the roof of a car.

I overheard the call with the insurance, the pause then laughter from the other end when the insurance agent heard ‘a stoned cat fell out of a tree and landed on my car’ is amazing.

The better part was that the agent followed that up with by protocol ma’am, we have to interview all involved parties. Yes. They have to, as policy is written, interview the cat.

Good luck on that one, insurance agents. I’m not telling the people three or four doors down their cat is neded for an insurance claim. I’m just not!

Gentle reminder: when mentioning users on Mastodon, make sure to include the whole address. Doing this makes it easier to find people regardess of instance. Even if you are local to the person or even if the person is on your instance, getting into the practice or writing the whole address may help to understand Mastodon better, and help otehrs find the person you are mentioning should they need to interact with them.

@ner

I've got one of my Twitter archives and am waiting for the other. I've deleted both Twitter sessions from my client because I just don't have the desire to look at it at this point. And, I'm not a Taylor Swift fan really, but it looks like a millennial is going to kill Ticketmaster and honestly that's probably a good thing.

If you’re an admin/mod and you’ve got a patreon running for your instance, respond to this with a link and maybe a little about your server/whether you’re open.

I’ve seen lots of people looking to support admins financially, whether their own or just in service of the fedi, but not always knowing where to go except the main dev patreon.

@doot

General warning to all new users: most mastodon servers are going to perform poorly as they take on a lot of new users. Most servers are small affairs run by a single person. Things are going to be slow, and things are going to break.

Be patient, be respectful, and tip your admin.

It’s going to be a rough ride in the fediverse for a while. These are strange times and no one was prepared.

Mastodon is strange and new, and it’s uncomfortable here right now. Be patient, it’s worth it.

@rolenthedeep

We need to urge corporations like VWGroup@mastodon.social to donate big time to the instances they join. Especially if they join an already big instance like mastodon.social.

And long term, they should be running their own instances and employing a social media manager to run them.

If these corporate users from the #TwitterMigration don’t do their part, they will have a hand in killing Mastodon before it really gets started — and everyone who’s made Mastodon their social media home will be incredibly upset!

@atomicpoet

I feel really bad about this decision, but we’ve decided to make Mindly.Social an English only server.

Due to the issues with moderating other languages and people unable to filter the languages they understand, we will only be allowing English on our server for the foreseeable future.

If this new change impacts you, please work to move your account to another server at this time.

We apologize to those impacted, but it’s not viable for us to continue down the current path we are on.

@KuJoe

Hey #mastoadmin – for folks running their own Mastodon servers, are there any hot setup tips or gotchas to avoid from your experience? Any setup guide preferred over the official one?

I have a tiny server and won’t be doing anything complex (for now), but if there’s something I can do now to make scaling later easier (ex. make sure sh*t won’t break if I need to add a CDN for assets?) I’d prefer to!

I’ve been researching to get ready but wanted to check for any tacit knowledge here 🙂

@tweedge

All,

I’ve gotten a small team together and we have started development on the Mastodon server for the disability community.

I am in the process of outlining some additional roles we will need to fill to make this succeed, and will put out a solicitation for that at a later date.

I am also making an outline for the information database we want to build, and will likely recruit people (or solicit information) for various pieces of it.
