@Lino0876 @sommer They didn't just once have a masto fork, TS is quite literally a masto fork. That's what it is now. I don't know about Rumble I haven't looked at it, but wouldn't be surprised if that's a Peertube fork.

@Lino0876 @sommer Alternatively, you might want to look at finding a developer who can use Greasemonkey or similar to improve what can be improved on the client side. Not my prefered solution but might work for getting it to a point where you can use at least on PC.

@Lino0876 @sommer I should probably point out that I'm in no way suggesting that TS or Rumble shouldn't make their stuff accessible. They should. And TS can improve that by putting back the Mastodon accessibility features they removed in their fork. I'm simply saying that you, personally, should probably cut losses unless you can get enough people together to get a larger org to pay attention to these particular cases, and that may mean you'll need to start +

@Lino0876 @sommer Whether or not they're a publicly traded company has no bearing on whether or not they should make their site/software accessible. Getting them to actually do it will almost certainly take a lawsuit, which will cost money. And even for large orgs, it's more productive to go after larger companies than to try to play whack-a-mole with all the smaller ones. That, or just make it law that every website/app must be accessible to a specific standard.

@Lino0876 @sommer Look I'm all for individual advocacy when the org being petitioned is open to the idea. But Rumble, Truth Social, Gab, ETC. are not open at all, and so on an individual level it's going to be a huge waste of time and a source of frustration the more times you encounter the brick wall.

@Lino0876 @sommer Because ACB and NFB for that matter have the time, budget and other resources to do the kind of advocacy required whereas individuals do not. Especially if you're doing it for free.

@Lino0876 @sommer I do not have any pointers other than if you're receiving no response or an evasive response such as "we'll see what we can do" or similar it's time to cut your losses unless you think you can devote literally all your time to advocacy. Some orgs just are not going to do accessibility and there's a point where you have to pick battles.
