How ChatGPT Hijacks Democracy by Nathan E. Sanders and Bruce Schneier
Created by the company OpenAI, ChatGPT is a chatbot that can automatically respond to written prompts in a manner that is sometimes eerily close to human. But for all the consternation over the potential for humans to be replaced by machines in formats like poetry and sitcom scripts, a far greater threat looms: artificial intelligence replacing humans in the democratic processes — not through voting, but through lobbying.

Here’s some #foodForThought : For some #disabilities, #accessibility in #gaming has historically been so bad that their only respite was to make their own games that work well for them, but rarely for other target audiences. This has created what may as well be separate worlds of games that will rarely intersect, and exceptions to the rule can be counted on two hands. This perpetuates segregation, and I wish we could all see just how much of a problem it really is.

It’s notable that the same people who say that books about children’s experience in the holocaust and about famous baseball players need to be removed from schools, drag queen story hours can’t happen, adolescents can’t have access to contraception, and accurate history can’t be taught in order to “protect children” have absolutely no problem with children in workplaces where they absolutely do not belong. Almost as if everything they claim to believe is a lie. https://mastodon.lol/@brooklynmarie/109988456677638283

Tik Tok is next to tell you what kind of links you can put on your online profile. "TikTok has begun blocking links to app stores in creators’ bios, [....] The block [...] also extends to third-party link-in-bio solutions like Linktree." And this is why you need to own your web presence, even if it's a basic, single page hosted on https://neocities.org or https://glitch.com. https://techcrunch.com/2023/03/08/tiktok-begins-blocking-links-to-app-store-pages-from-creators-bios/ via @Sarahp@mastodon.social #IndieWeb #OpenWeb #news #TikTok
