@mattnavarra @ubiquity75 The image is a screenshot of a tweet from Chris Messina. It reads as follows:

“And, it’s done. I’m no longer legacy verified. Not that I care (I don’t), but this is as good a time as any to bid farewell. So long, and thanks for all the hashtags.”

Chris then appends a screenshot of his Twitter profile with a red circle drawn around the place his verified mark used to be.

The End of Computer Magazines in America by Harry McCracken

The April issues of Maximum PC and MacLife are currently on sale at a newsstand near you—assuming there is a newsstand near you. They’re the last print issues of these two venerable computer magazines, both of which date to 1996 (and were originally known, respectively, as Boot and MacAddict). Starting with their next editions, both […]

Public Service Announcement for #wx warnings and alerts. If you are afraid of missing #weather warnings and alerts for your area due to the fiasco over on the birdsite, follow the “IEMBOT” bots we have put up here on the #Fediverse – THESE ARE NOT DEPENDENT ON TWITTER. You need to look up your Weather Service office (for example, mine is Los Angeles, LOX) and find the bot, ie @iembot_lox — or say Boston, @iembot_box (office abbr. here: https://training.weather.gov/nwstc/sysinfo/sites.html) #NWS #NationalWeatherService

@ai6yr

When I first created tech.lgbt, Mastodon was only a few months old.

I originally set it up on a very small server on 15 April 2017, which would have been v1.1.2. We’re on 4.1.2 exactly six years later. Three full major releases in!

On a personal note, I’ve had lots of ups and downs on the fediverse, but I am glad to be able to help make a space for queer folks who like bappy computer thingies. :bowie: :bowie_heart:

We aren't as humans meant to be in a state of hyper vigilance. We rotate lifeguards every 30 minutes for exactly this reason. AND YET, If you conceal-carry, that's what you're doing to yourself. My observation of people I've known who CC'd is that it becomes their personality and not in a positive way. The gun is a radioactive isotope. You are exposing yourself to its cancer every time you carry it on your person. It seeps into your brain and bones. You are raising the chances you're going to do something inexcusable because you have set yourself up for it. You're not a "wolf" protecting the "sheep". You're just a poison victim who convinced yourself that the thing you poisoned yourself with was good, actually.
NYT editor says company won't leave Twitter by Sara Fischer
The New York Times does not plan to stop using Twitter, its top editor said Saturday, despite the fact that Elon Musk, the company's owner, has taken seemingly targeted actions against the Times, and has called the outlet's work "propaganda."

OK that’s their right.

However, as long as journalists are refusing to leave Twitter, don’t expect me to have any simpathy or empathy the next time Elon does you dirty, because you’re apparently just fine with all of it.
