Today is apparently the one hundred and thirty-third anniversary of the day Anne Sullivan began teaching Helen Keller. I would like to know why we continue to honor the memory of someone, (namely Keller), who was a passionate advocate for eugenics and who never reconsidered that position even after people with disabilities were specifically targeted for extermination as part of the holocaust

Just offering a different opinion. Of course, eugenics is a deplorable concept, but does Helen Keller’s belief in it negate the rest of her accomplishments? I think we as a society walk down a dangerous path when we Judge people from the past by today’s social standards.
this extends to all people such as musicians, artists Etc. I’d be willing to bet that you love the music of someone who, on more than one occasion, degraded women in some way. Human beings are flawed creatures.
In this case though we are talking about someone who specifically advocated for people with mental disabilities to be eradicated, and as far as accomplishments, I’m not sure exactly what she accomplished.
