When you listen to The Verge’s podcast and they’re legitimately saying Mastodon is a “no girls allowed” club? And we don’t want Facebook here because Instagram will bring women here?!

What the fuck is wrong with these American tech pundits? Mastodon is the gayest, transest, most feminine social network I’ve ever seen. There are so many more outspoken, smart, odd, and downright weird women here than I’ve ever seen on any other social network. It’s fucking great.

I click on a drop down menu to select the specialization, the lights flicker and turn off, a subsonic whoomph is heard in the distance, car alarms plaintively start bleeping-

The real reason that online-only conferences won’t be allowed to work is because the argument about whether or not online-only conferences can work is a convenient proxy battle for the people who believe their subsidized-travel job perk is more important than the accessibility of their field and the health and safety of its marginalized participants, and who _really_ want to avoid saying so out loud.
