Damn. Still no archive from the large Mastodon instance. I’m waiting on that before I do the final migration step. And, welcome to new followers. Mastodon is a different experience than Twitter but I think it’s a richer and definitely more interesting experience that’s worth the migration or even just lifeboat.
are you planning to leave Twitter altogether?@arush are you planning to leave Twitter altogether?
@wiljames I’m staying to watch it crash and burn because honestly it’s like a huge train wreck that you can’t look away from. But Mastodon and similar projects are a much more enjoyable experience and so Twitter is mostly in read mode.
@arush Hey Amanda, where are you migrating from and to? I’m interested in keeping up with you! I assume you will be on micro.blog too, but I’m trying to cover my bases, as everything is so fluid right now.
@arush Mastodon: You own your own data! …If you can get at it.
@Q Yeah something like that. This is why I tell people that while it’s better than nothing, it’s more of a middle of the road thing with closed-off social media site on one side and site you have complete control of on the other. Latter is my preference.
@Q I also get that setting up a site that you control, with support for various protocols so that it can interoperate, is beyond most people. So Mastodon is a workable alternative for most.
@Q By the way, how did the apple crisp turn out?
@jean I’m migrating to @arush@blind.lol since it’s a much smaller server. Of course I’ll still be on MB as well.
