Thunderbird’s “It’s Friday so I’m going to be a little shit and not properly launch” game is strong today. I have to say it’s working and I am becoming more and more convinced that I should just take a three-day weekend. Well-played, Thunderbird. I suppose I could restart this machine one more time but I really don’t think that’s what’s going on.

Something something glass houses and stones. There should probably be a discusion on the right about how all that media criticism could just as easily apply to conservative outlets, or about how conservative outlets need to be careful that they don’t do the things they accuse so-called mainstream publications of doing, or about how maybe the same “view-them-in-the-best-light” policy that’s applied to conservative publications when they fuck up maybe should also be applied to mainstream ones, but none of those discussions are going to happen.

Yes, residential Indian boarding schools still exist in this country, but (and I type this with the utmost sarcasm) yeah state-sponsored racism against Native Americans is totally not a thing and they should just quit focusing on the past or get over it or something.

#a11yWin #Indieweb Summit 2019 was captioned for the first time this year. I would like to point out that this conference has a $5 ticket price as well as the ability to stream it for free if you can’t attend in person, and yet they still managed to caption their talks and committees. I don’t have any data on attendance numbers but I’d be surprised if attendance is above 500, and I’m being very liberal with that. If a bunch of homebrew hackers and hobbyists can figure this stuff out, there’s no reason anyone else can’t. The only thing left is excuses and those become flimsier by the day.

Summer colds are absolutely a thing and OMG muh brain! My eyes will not stop watering and I am coughing my brains out and I have a headache which is probably a result of the coughing and general stuffiness. The good news is that there’s a Rays game at 1PM and I get to go to bed early tonight.
