@bryansmart @cublanco @serrebi We never had one on the porch, just a tiny one that barely did anything. But yeah if you can get a large/powerful one, plus screened in, plus comfortable chair and maybe a table for your shit, it's one of the best experiences that can be had for cheap.

@bryansmart @cublanco @serrebi Oh and as long as the porch is screened in. I like the sound of the bugs, I do not like being dive bombed by mosquitos.
-
@bryansmart @cublanco @serrebi Yeah that's the best time to be out, except when it's incredibly muggy. Don't like moon pies myself.
-
@cublanco @bryansmart @serrebi I'd suggest beer, but you can't drink beer warm while you can get away with not having a cooler for whisky and such. And in the south, that shit matters, especially in the summer time.
-
@cublanco @bryansmart @serrebi I was gonna suggest whisky from a jub, but I'm sure Bryan has standards. Hell I have standards.
-
@cublanco @bryansmart @serrebi Complete with RC Cola and moon pie. Sorry Bryan I couldn't resist I spent way too much time in semi-rural NC.

@cambridgeport90 No. It just happened that my uncle Aaron got together with someone named Amanda.

When the AI bros scream “Look a monster!” to distract everyone from their practices (data theft, profligate energy usage, scaling of biases, pollution of the information ecosystem), we should make like Scooby-Doo and remove their mask.

USB-C is all very well but I can’t be the only one who misses having to recite incantations in Old Enochian to keep a SCSI chain working

My Aunt Amanda has a website that she updates on the regular and I couldn't be more proud. She does #bookstodon things. https://amandairush.com/

@cambridgeport90 I eventually got what I was looking for, but that situation seriously pissed me off the other day.

@cambridgeport90 @_L1vY_ FSE uses the block editor, so it inherits all of its problems, to say nothing of the extra ones it introduces. It's fine for simple sites. Don't use it with anything indieweb unless you're also willing to install the indieblocks plugin. Not sure how well that works with FSE.

I do love a three-day weekend, but even when it’s a national holiday, Tuesday always ends up with a “We now join your week, already in progress” feel to it.
There’s no getting around Monday.

@tchambers Did I just read correctly that according to this author, Mastodon doesn't have replies or direct messages? Even setting aside the legit problems with Mastodon's direct messaging system, these two things definitely exist.

Any meaningful UX testing in 2023 needs to account for ad blockers and password managers.
If your site or app doesn’t work with popular ad blockers, or it refuses to allow logins pasted in from password managers, it’s broken.
Yes, some executive type will want to argue about this because they think ad blocking will go away or they misunderstood some now outdated infosec guidance. They’re wrong. Users use ad blockers and password managers and if your stuff doesn’t work with them, it’s broken.

@emilygorcenski I'm a Golden Knights fan, but this is still funny.
