For abled folks: Next time you’re about to argue you’re not ableist, think about the fact that there even need to be laws to create a bare bones accessibility ….that it wasn’t something abled ppl just wanted to do to include their fellow human beings.
Then contemplate that these bare bones laws are very often disobeyed and society isn’t in an uproar about it.

I absolutely hate the “yes or later” UX patter with all my fucking heart. If you were asked whether you’d like to be hung today, would “no, but please ask me next time we talk” be an acceptable answer for you? Because it sure isn’t for me, and that’s how I feel like when I’m forced to click that “later” button. Even if a software, in fact, is going to ask me later, it should at least have the decency not to rub that fact in my face. NVDA’s “skip donation this time” is a much better wording here.

If we truly want people to join the #Fediverse, the *best* way to do that is to post content that you can’t get anywhere else.
I haven’t seen anyone do more in that regard than @Deglassco, who is not only sharing American history, but American history that many politicians on the right are actively trying to erase from public school curricula.

There's also the possibility that, as president of the chapter/org, you're in a position to make change that others cannot, so saying something about this man's behavior could do some good. But also it's not a simple thing to deal with either and I get that.

@housepanther I have, and I like the idea, but still have concerns about where it's going to get a book info database after I did the goodreads import and there were several books it couldn't find. A book info database is some thing we'll need to figure out since Amazon essentially controls that at the moment.
