I'm not surprised someone came to this conclusion after the advent of AI. For a statistically significant chunk of the blind community alternative text and other alternative media have been first and foremost about self-interest, and while there's nothing wrong with self-interest in and of itself, just because you think you've found some magical workaround doesn't mean alternative media is no longer necessary.
