I’ve found myself really struggling mentally, as good as Mastodon has been for me.
It feels like in any social situation, I’m always the one reaching out. My attempts to be social are met with the minimum response, with only the occasional exception. Almost no one ever approaches me in turn.

Like I get there are some valid complaints but so much criticism of this place just seems to be people who never really wanted to be here who didn’t feel the vibe and got mad about it

We’re on like Satanic Panic version 33 or so and nobody ever seems to learn anything even though the previous one turned out to be a bunch of hooey.

And I’m thoroughly convinced people opt not to learn from experience just so they can continue stomping on people they don’t like on a flimsy pretext.

They very much fell out of fashion after the rise of search engines, but it feels like an indieweb/fediverse kind of capability

My wife’s coworker (who teaches several computer science classes at the HS) found out I’m a software engineer, and asked her “What’s she do? Full stack, front end?”

She texted to ask and I promptly and without thinking responded “Front end in the streets, full stack in the sheets”.

I’m proud of that, as nonsensical as it was, because apparently it made him snort coffee.
