Offering beta versions of your software to your general users is equivalent to saying, “I mean, like, it couldn’t be worse than what we already gave you, right?” Betas should be for a selected audience who’s feedback you listen to closely and for whom you plan to respond with alacrity. You should regard quality gaps as your problem, not “Well, we never said it was perfect.” Personally, I use betas only on test devices for specific testing, never for general use.

Since I’m seeing a new wave of people saying they plan to leave Twitter, you may like my browser tool that takes the zip file of your Twitter export and returns a zip file of a web site that lets people browse and search your tweets. You can just upload the files wherever you normally host html and it’ll work just fine.

From Reconstructionism to ultra-Orthodoxy, Judaism is richly diverse.

Of the three largest denominations, Reform is most common in the U.S. – but nearly as many U.S. Jews do not identify with any particular branch.

Here’s what you should know, according to a Jewish studies professor:

I like this quote:

“The problem is that electric cars are popular with politicians precisely because they provide an excuse to avoid doing harder things, like rebuilding our cities, or changing the habits of lifetimes. Persuading people to switch from their old gasoline car to a shiny Tesla is much easier than persuading them that they can live without a car. Hence governments are pushing electric cars, often with incentives that make no sense.” – Daniel Knowles, author of Carmageddon

@vagina_museum We did breeding experiments on fruit flies (D. melanogaster) when I was in junior high school. We were supposed to euthanize them with ether (as opposed to, say, a flyswatter or a rolled-up newspaper) at the end of the experiment.

Ether not only failed to kill my fruit flies, but the little degenerates came crawling back for more. I may have single-handedly bred a new strain of drug-crazed ether-addicted (and ether-proof) fruit flies.

You’re welcome.

@StillIRise1963 I’m 65. Domestic violence was considered a family matter. No one was prosecuted for it, women were told by their various churches to do better and endure.
Rape was impossible to prosecute. There was no Miranda Law. No fault divorce did not exist. My mother had to get written permission from her father to go to college.
Abortion was illegal at every stage. Segregation was the norm. Civil rights did not exist.
They want us to go back to that time.
