They could, but as of yet none of the large American social media companies are owned by the government. Tictoc essentially is at this point. So while I have concerns about a ban, doing nothing isn't really an option, and so far the concerned among us haven't proposed anything close to a solution to all this.

Not sure I'd count on this because I'm not sure most of the people doing the protesting know the Levant is a thing or where to find it on a map.

@ben @ProPublica There's something people really do need to understand. Journalism done well has costs. The way you offset those costs is to give money. You can do that with subscriptions or you can do that with donations, but there still is no such thing as a free lunch. And Mastodon doesn't get a pass on this because it's flexing its anticapitalist muscles right now.

I was wondering when Trump was going to pull the rug out from under the people who have decided they should try relidigating his Charlottesville response in order to increase the Jewish vote for Republicans. Guess we didn't have to wait too long.

Also, I like presidents who are honest about when they disagree with Israel's government, instead of the ones who gush about the special relationship between Israel and the US in public while they order their lackies in congress to stab Israel in the back when they think no one's watching.

Also, quit telling the people who are facing literal existential threats to just quit fighting because just because you think the Russians and Hamas are going to listen to you doesn't mean anyone else is dumb enough to believe this and they don't feel like rolling over and just taking it so you can feel morally superior to everyone who's not you.

Yeah that seemed like pure word salad to me. I mean he made the perfect statement that could almost be interpreted to mean anything the listener wanted it to mean. Which is the worst kind of statement.

I'd like to see this myself, and will be on the look-out for Israeli coverage of this should it actually happen. And I don't mean English coverage.
