Definitely keeping you two in my prayers, for both a speedy recovery for your wife and the patience to advocate without it becoming exhausting for you.
Like I don't know, maybe start with asking the question: "Would you like someone to help your class find out how much waste they can prevent" and then letting everyone involved know that "we need to go through your trash to do this" and um I just thought of the privacy implications and this just got a whole lot creapier.
@quanin Yes but surely there's a better way to do this than sending students around to inspect your trash?
From where I'm sitting, the idea of someone going through your trash and then presumably telling you what in their opinion you're wasting and what you could do better, all without your actually asking for this advice. And then there's just a random stranger going through your trash.
This is incredibly messed up.
Mmmm pumpkin pecan muffins.
@technocounselor Oh yes I remember the bad that is paratransit, which is apparently amazingly global. Do not miss those days.
Oh man I'm so sorry you have to be up that early for any reason.
Yes we're hoping the cool weather stays around here too. It's wonderful.
@maxleibman Sort of. Read this: https://dev.to/leading-edje/why-password-length-matters-g17
@quanin There's already a working ActivityPub plugin for WordPress, and I suspect that the Tumblr backend is pretty old code so it would be more effort to get that working with AP than it would to just migrate the thing to a codebase that's being maintained which also has the added advantage of having the working AP code that Automattic needs to make Tumblr part of the fediverse.
I'll be honest I haven't read it since fifth grade I think so I'd have to reread it. Wasn't Jim the slaveboy?
I kind of want to research Huckleberry Fin bans now but it's late. But I suspect those are just as wild.
OK but you appear to be attempting to make a case that it's not just conservatives who ban books, and I'm telling you that actually Tom Sawyer is the perfect case study for everybody bans books because it gets banned for all sorts of reasons including wildly varying ones. So I was hoping we could agree that banning books is bad no matter who does it.
You should totally rwrite that letter because (a) Hamas absolutely executed six hostages and (b) one of the hostages, Sasha Trufanov, hopefully still alive, is an Amazon employee.
I can't speak for Huckleberry Fin, but Tom Sawyer at one point was considered pro-Communist and has an interesting ban history. It was banned as early as 1876 in both New York and Colorado.
That's funny that they say Win11 is as stable as Win7 because Win7 wasn't that stable either. I mean it was better than Vista, but still.
The maple syrup wasn't on the desk.
