Conservatives Are Defending a Sanitized Version of 'The Great Replacement' by Adam Serwer (theatlantic.com)
Their reaction to the Buffalo shooting shows that the racist theory has now entered the Republican mainstream.

Because of course they are.

Don’t call them racists though it’s super hurtful and besides that some of their best friends are black or something and they love Israel.

Has the Buffalo attack prompted any "I thought it harmless hyperbole to criticize Dems' immigration stance, I didn't realize I was playing with fire. I still disagree with Dems, of course, but I'll be more precise to avoid inadvertantly helping fuel white nationalist terrorism"?

— Nicholas Grossman (@NGrossman81) May 18, 2022

Nope. And it won’t. And neither will the next attack.

1 cup | James' Coffee Blog (James' Coffee Blog)
1 cup

I’m going with one cup for now, because for the past two years I’ve kept it to that minimum. I’ve been drinking coffee since about the age of fifteen or sixteen though after I was introduced to it during a debate event in high school and I consumed it pretty regularly throughout college and the majority of my web development/tech support career.

The computer scientist interviewed in this piece is absolutely correct. Kill it with a raging forest fire.

Here is Louisiana’s new fetal personhood bill—which House Republicans just voted out of committee 7–2—making abortion a crime of homicide “from the moment of fertilization” and allowing prosectors to charge patients with murder. https://t.co/DJahoVd7mN

— Mark Joseph Stern (@mjs_DC) May 5, 2022

But I’ve been repeatedly assured by prolife folks that women who obtain abortions would be held legally harmless (whatever the fuck that means) if Roe were overturned. And yet, LA goes for this, and TN goes for criminalizing abortion pills by mail, and Texas goes for citizen bounties on women who have had abortions, and of course they’re strategically silent. I used to scoff at people who made comparisons to the Handmaid’s Tale. Now, I’m thinking they may have had a fucking point.

What are all these folks gonna do if it turns out - as a lot of informed people suspect - that the leaker was a conservative, trying to solidify the anti-Roe majority behind Alito? Lol. https://t.co/2lKm3BChwx

— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) May 4, 2022

They will become suddenly strategically silent and pretend it never happened.

The next frontier for the antiabortion movement—after fifty years of states rights advocacy—is becoming entirely hostile to the devolution of abortion regulation to the states and seeking to recruit the federal government into restricting the procedure. https://t.co/oS3h9SD66U

— southpaw (@nycsouthpaw) May 4, 2022

In other words, file yet one more thing under "states’ rights my ass".

They're not exactly popping champagne bottles at GOP HQ over the SCOTUS draft leak. @SykesCharlie and A.B. Stoddard explain why on today's episode of the podcast https://t.co/gkT3Rn5Ji2 pic.twitter.com/evCmW7tNak

Well, fuck them and fuck their talking points. They caught this car, they can own it, and if they lose over it tough shit. And yes, I fervently hope they lose everything and will do everything in my power to make sure that happens.

These people are painfully stupid. https://t.co/ekhAve7nIc

— Spiro Agnew’s Ghost (@SpiroAgnewGhost) May 5, 2022

Oh she’s not stupid, she knows perfectly well that the leak is not a crime. She’ll scream from the rooftops that it is anyway, despite knowing better, because she’s gotta get those sweet sweet Fox News TV appearances.

I don't think these gotcha arguments realize how much socons today are open to being heterodox on social support to prevent abortion. https://t.co/NPSXO6VDhY

— Avi Woolf, Wilderness Conservative🐺 (@AviWoolf) May 3, 2022

They might be theoretically open to it but the minute anyone tries to implement it they’ll scream socialism and when the pregnancies they forced women to carry to term become children who suffer because their mothers can’t afford to raise and take care of them they’ll plead we didn’t think.

The left's unhinged reaction to the Roe news and Musk buying twitter are really the same story: leftists do not fundamentally believe in the democratic norm of sharing power. The left wins and the right loses. Anything else is illegitimate. https://t.co/nEcdZW0smI

— Noah Pollak (@NoahPollak) May 3, 2022

Sorry but you don’t get to strip half the population of a constitutional and human right after that half spent fifty years relying on said right and then complain about that same half of the population being unwilling to share power you facist little shit.

Striking down Roe v. Wade will violate Jewish religious liberty (The Forward)
Jewish law allows for abortion in many cases, and requires it if the mother’s life is in danger.

And at this point I believe fundamentalist Christians are completely OK with this because the only religious freedom that actually matters is their religious freedom

https://twitter.com/ishapiro/status/1521303521827635202 by Ilya Shapiro (Twitter)

The leak is inexcusable and threatens the Court’s functioning. The most plausible explanation is that it’s someone on the left engaged in civil disobedience—so yet again it’s those who bemoan the “loss of norms” who break them. Cf. court-packing, attacking legitimacy, etc.

Oh save the performative outrage Ilya this is far from the first time the court has leaked, even for Roe, and I’m 100% sure you’re aware of this.

Taylor Lorenz old tweets 'excluded' from Internet Archive amid Libs of TikTok doxxing backlash (foxnews.com)

You morons understand that the Wayback Machine doesn’t just automatically crawl and that individuals must add and therefore are responsible for making sure their content is excluded? Right? Right? It’s not like you don’t have people on your staff who could have explained to you how this works, but then I guess the boomers gotta whip up some new conspiracy theory because you’re pissed off that Taylor Lawrence is smarter than you. Once again, this is the unmoderated internet you crave. And on that unmoderated internet, the people with the skills get the privileges.
