@lauren @fireborn @adora So by way of example, Seeing AI from Microsoft uses AI now for image recognition. I use it sometimes to try to figure out, say, what a label on a can says, or what color my shirt is. It sometimes gets these wrong and I need to double check with a sighted person. There's also OCR, which is technically in this category and which all too frequently still has to be manually corrected for readability/accuracy of text.

@bruce_toews I think at the heart of it independence means that we were able to do it on our own time/at our own initiative. At least that's the thing that sticks out for me a lot of the time.

@devinprater The only people who ever fob off one letter here or there being incorrect as not a big deal are the ones who have never had to manually correct OCRed texts so they can be used.

@feoh Maybe people wouldn't look to communism or anarchism if capitalists didn't spend so much time and energy letting the worst parts of human nature flourish and then not standing up the infrastructure to offset that for the sake of profit. This is like Christians letting all kinds of evil flourish in their ranks, and then bemoaning the existence of atheists.

@bryansmart Politician spam is so rampant that I get spam from politicians in states where I don't even live. And they all think my name is Ryan for some reason. Sometimes I want to find the Ryan who had this number before me and strangle him for signing up for all the damn campaign texts.

@yatil @matuzo Yeah that's an AccessiBe affiliate, as in, AccessiBe runs an affiliate program and I really hope someone at the NFB convention asked them while they were doing their apology tour presentation how all of that squares with their current attempt to convince us all they're super sorry and stuff.
