@emilygorcenski Who is strategically fighting these bills, and how can we help, other than the obvious don't vote for politicians who will create these kinds of bills? Not snarking, genuinely asking as I'm not sure where to look.

@CordiallyChloe Yes. Definitely. Some people really love her, others hate her for various reasons, mostly because she portrays all of us as having a sighted person in our pockets that can just do whatever for us.

@annaecook I think you should put it after your name, you earned it. Plus, that mediocre dude applying for the same job you are will definitely list the letters attached to his degree or his certs to his name, and if you don't do the same it'll be assumed you don't have said degree.

@mektastic @dotsonapage Bookwyrm is a decentralized Goodreads alternative that can communicate with Mastodon both ways. In other words, you can follow and interact with Bookwyrm accounts from your Mastodon instance and vice versa. Several people host Bookwyrm servers, usually for free, and you can import your books from Goodreads to get started.

@KaraLG84 @mektastic But yeah, if they're going to loudly tell the rest of us that we're being entitled or whatever, anonymously or not, then as far as I'm concerned they should get the f*ck off the web. And yes that includes their favorite social media site.

@KaraLG84 @mektastic Not gonna lie, those are the people who make me wish that, when making web things accessible, I could have a selecter to target "blind people who loudly proclaim to the rest of us that we are not entitled to accessibility" so I could ensure they don't get to benefit from the accessibility stuff being implemented. Spoiler alert: I can't do this, and honestly I shouldn't be able to have the ability to do this.

@mektastic @KaraLG84 Oh believe me it's not just Reddit, it's Twitter too, and yeah they're the first people to either (a) take advantage of accessible stuff or (b) loudly complain when something *they* want is inaccessible. It's tiring.

@chris Yeah closing the tab. I still have the account because there are family members who refuse to leave and I do need to periodically check up since that's where they do everything, but pretty sure I won't be able to keep up the struggle so quitting while I'm ahead.

@chris My uncle posted singing the praises of that congresswoman who concocted the Jira conspiracy and let me tell you something it was an actual struggle to not comment and tell him he's a fucking moron and that he and everyone like him deserves to be confined to the boomer playpen that is Facebook because if they venture out onto the rest of the web they'll continue hurting themselves.
