@lynnskyi Proper sighted guide is definitely not putting your hand on someone's shoulder. It's putting your hand just above the elbow so you can feel arm movement and react accordingly.

@treehousedarren @FreakyFwoof I don't think you need to be on mastodon.social in order for the correct spelling of Mastodon to matter. Aside from the official domain names hosting, Mastodon is correct and will get you to the thing you're trying to find out about/join, mastadon is not. So while I won't set my hair on fire over it, I will definitely correct someone's spelling to ensure they get the correct thing.

@FreakyFwoof @treehousedarren Speaking as someone who has had to just learn to politely ignore people misspelling WordPress for years because otherwise I'd never get anything else done, I empathize.

@treehousedarren @FreakyFwoof I don't know man, misspelling a domain name is the difference between getting to the site you were actually looking for, and ending up somewhere completely different. This includes extensions: E.G., whitehouse.com vs. whitehouse.gov. One is a porn site, the other is the site for the White House. That's just one example.

@SteveSawczyn @objectinspace @annaecook @paninid @donmelton They're doing some accessible classes, but there's still completely frustrating things like not being able to type in a password while using their TTS. It just says bullet when you tap a letter, so the end result is that you need a sighted person to log you in when things like the power go out or the router dies. And we lose power enough that it's an actual problem,

@aardrian I have a sneaking suspicion that GAAD is a performative exercise for most, and find myself wondering what the continued usefulness of it is. Kind of want to write an article about it for World Blind Herald but I know it would probably create a ton of controversy.
