To make this more concrete: As a Jew, I can absolutely pretend that people like Stefanik performing their allyship role mean it, and jump on their bandwagon in response. As a woman, the consequences of that will be less rights, as a Jew it will mean less religious freedom, and as a totally blind person it will mean a less and less accessible society. Spoiler alert: It's already pretty bad. Leftwing antisemitism absolutely sucks, and I don't think we should let it stand. But I have no intention of biting off my nose to spite my face when the result is all the bad stuff I mentioned plus I still have to deal with antisemitism, just the rightwing variety.

I don't have a silver bullet for disappearing antisemitism, but I know that strategy shouldn't involve helping the Republicans throw everyone but straight white abled males under the bus and establish a Christian theocracy in which Jews will be allowed to live as second-class citizens at best.

@aelliotpr All of this kind of reminds me of the argument about how the swastika didn't start out as a nazi symbol and so we shouldn't automatically assume everyone using it is a nazi. (I first learned about this argument from an ex-boyfriend which is part of the reason he's very firmly an ex, but that's a collection of stories for another day in which I have copious amounts of alcohol and weed). Anyway, if you're using a swastika I'm assuming you're a nazi. Also, if you and your friends are yelling "from the river to the sea" I'm assessing the risk of you and your friends being genicidal fucks as too high for me to dig up some sort of benefit of the doubt on your behalf. See also: If you either regularly make jokes about raping women, or you regularly defend others who do the same as not really misogynist assholes and I just need to calm down, I'm assuming you're a misogynist asshole.
