When the right says "we need to do something about mental illness" what they mean is what happened to Jordan Neely. When they mention that Jordan was suffering from mental illness listen to the tone. Listen to how, like him being homeless it's a justification for ... murder. I live in the south Bronx. I've seen some very loud, 'erratic,' belligerent even, baseball fans, drunk, peeing on our sidewalks-- why aren't they on the "just kill em for being annoying" list too?

There are many different sides to the "Dave Debate" Should people named Dave exist? Should they have rights? Are they people at all? I'm not anti-Dave, in fact I am a great supporter of Daves. I just think we need to ask some questions. But if you ask these questions people get so mad. Shouldn't we at least have a sober reasonable discussion? What's wrong with that?

Republicans come up with all kinds of red herrings to distract attention from the obvious fact that guns are the problem. Mental illness, too soon, thoughts and prayers - the list goes on. “Illegal immigrant” now from Greg Abbott, as if that somehow mitigates the deaths of 5 people and doesn’t even appear to be true. But this is who the GOP are. Only 50% of registered Texas voters voted in 2022. Thinking that your vote doesn’t matter because you live in a red county/state? What if it would?

We’re at the “first they came for the transgender people, but I wasn’t transgender so…” stage of fascism. Believe me, there have already been canaries in the coal mine that been checked off Fascists’ lists (POC, those with disabilities, assorted other Useless Eaters). They’re ticking down the list, and your whiteness or wealth will not protect you. Fight now.

I'm sticking with my theory that #ElonMusk bought #Twitter to dismantle it. Despite its many problems, Twitter had become a powerful tool for common people to educate and organize—two things the right absolutely cannot have. Losing over 20 billion of value in mere months is beyond disastrous. I can't imagine a metric that shines a positive light on this acquisition—unless the goal is to silence people. https://daringfireball.net/linked/2023/04/24/the-twitter-blue-apocalypse-is-nigh
