Just sitting awake in bed, thinking how my 8 y.o. will soon be back at school, where state leaders are working hard to ensure that he is safe from critical theories and at risk from life-threatening contagion

They’re really showing us who they are, aren’t they? You’d think the anti-anti- crowd would be angriest of all about how their brand is being tarnished by authoritarianism, fascism, ethnonationalism, etc…

If you draw inferences about people’s beliefs from their words and actions, that’s not “mind-reading.” Words and actions are choices, driven by beliefs. If someone insists their words and actions don’t reflect their beliefs, they’re not being honest, either with you or themselves

If you think it's OK to continue the cycle of hazing and weaponized stress because you "turned out just fine," you did not, in fact, turn out just fine. https://t.co/yToPqCsODH

“Not allowed to say” is more applicable to things you’re not allowed to say, rather than things a lot of people frequently say in public, often to cheers and profit.

Given that the right fell in love with Trump more than a half decade ago, it seems a little odd for Ross Douthat to attribute the right’s Orban crush to the cultural progressivism of the “last few years.” https://t.co/EhxgrgEwgU

What makes it a winning message is the thing Republicans claim to hate: the pronouns. “Your” child vs. “my” right. With a Republican “my” beats “your” every time.

You can replace "Constitution" in the prior tweet with "the troops."

You can replace "Constitution" in the prior tweet with "cops."

You can replace "Constitution in the prior tweet with "the rule of law."

And, sadly, many many other things.

I never really thought y'all cared much about the Constitution, except in so far as it was a convenient prop for you to use to attack your opponents. https://t.co/WtulHNHzuS

The focus on the border allows them to fall back into their comfort zone of identity politics and familiar narratives about scary foreigners and the need for big wall…while deflecting attention from the failures of their own reckless policies.https://t.co/K2Wiwfe5UE

Newspapers decried print's first competitor, radio, and tried to stop it from carrying news. They condemned billboards & tried to eliminate that advertising competitor. They panicked about television corrupting youth (& stealing ads). Now, the net. Ever thus.
