@serge I think the problem with it is the over-universalization. The lessons Jews took from the Shoah are very different from the universal ones being touted as the "One True Lesson" and that's to the detriment of the Jews. And we need to stop participating in that, even though it will absolutely mean less funding for actual commemoration.

@serge To add to this: I have this friend who has started a thing where students watch a Shoah documentary and then go through an already-selected set of images and text to create this little book, and it's suposedly going to create all this empathy which will then stop people from hating Jews, and of course, all forms of hate (TM). This is the kind of feel-good bullshit I think might fall in the category, because it's a complete waste of time and won't fucking work and we should just stop doing things like this to make other people feel better.
