  • Re: my last boost on Mastodon: how much of a problem individual Jews are going to have voting for one or more Republicans this cycle is going to varry from individual to individual, and I'm not about to tell another Jew how much of a problem they should or shouldn't have. But Democrats and leftists, you broght this on yourselves. You didn't have to make a nice cozy place for every Jew-hating c*nt you could find even after Trump was elected for a second time, but you did, and then you had the nerve to scold American Jews for not just shutting up and taking the crap. So now the bill is coming due, and you do not have the right to demand that we vote for anyone who is just fine with constantly attempting to police our identity on the mild end and justifying our actual deaths on the extreme end. And even if you do win, don't think we're going to forget the message that you've sent loudly and clearly for the last 3 years, and we will proceed accordingly.

  • Day 4 of the personal site migration from classic WordPress to blocks. As far as templating is concerned, the full site editor still makes me want to throw things. But, I have a really nice posting setup by way of a micropub client combined with some IFTTT until I get some stuff sorted with Lire and my Miniflux situation, and it's so nice that I'm literally going to be able to ditch several third-party services by the time this is done. I need to figure out how I'm going to handle Mastodon, because that workflow is completely broken at this point. The site itself will federate, but honestly with the way things have gone with the fediverse over the last three years and change there are a metric ton of people I'd just as soon not follow me to the next chapter of this journey. If you're tempted to reply to this post to say something about how you hope you're not on the list, rest assured that you are very likely not on it. Anyway, I have some strategizing to do, and John's going to help me with working with the full site editor since he likes the block editor while I'd like to fire it into the sun with a rocket. And in the event Mastodon becomes difficult, rest assured that I'll start finding people and following from my site.

Haley Stevens shocks Democrats by endorsing Republican Mike Rogers. Her move could sway Jewish voters in Michigan.

The stunning split with Abdul El-Sayed deepens a Democratic divide over Israel and could influence Jewish voters in one of the closest Senate races of the midterms.
nnI’m sorry Forward, but what exactly did you think was eventually going to happen? Did you think American Jews are just supposed to put up with the continued and escalating crap from the Democrats and their leftwing overlords because Republicans bad or something?

I really need to work on templates this week. I think that might be my biggest problem right now with this migration: Not liking the display of stuff.

I think I'm done fighting with the block editor for tonight. Time to unwind with Revivo.
  • Welcome to a new week everybody, and we're starting it…

Welcome to a new week everybody, and we're starting it off with Goodreads becoming something like 75% less useful now that they've discontinued their user RSS feeds. I mean OK Amazon, if you're trying to give me a good reason to stop using your platform and start posting book stuff straight to my site, you're on the right path, but honestly I think you're just being jerks. The only reason you discontinue RSS feeds is because you hate the open web. Also, I'm on day two of migrating my personal site to the block editor. There have been some hickups, and there are still some things I need to work out, but it's going OK-ish.

  • OK that's kind of draconian.

My last post was made with a Mastodon app, which on the classic version of this site would have published as a note thanks to some work done by the author of the Enable Mastodon Apps plugin to allow posts coming from Mastodon to take on the taxonomy set as the default post kind in the classic Post Kinds plugin.

This no longer works with Post Kinds for Block themes, (not the actual name of the new post kinds plugin but right now it's a mouthfull and I'm not used to the new nomenclature), (wow I actually spelled that correctly without looking), and it's not that I'm complaining exactly. I'm still kicking the tires on this thing anyway, and there's a plugin called Outpost that makes posting without the block editor a really nice experience.

Anyway, I posted what was supposed to be a quick note from the Mastodon app, and then checked that it posted as an article post kind with a status post format. No big deal, just go change it. Except, for some reason, the kinds meta box isn't showing up correctly when I attempt to edit the post.

In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal, but still. Now let's see of either ctrl or alt enter works for posting.
