There are people on the left who want me to condemn the people on the right who report on antisemitism because it figures either into their Islamophobia or their Christian Zionism. They think I don't know that, and I'm ignorant, or else I do know that and if I don't openly condemn it at every turn, I'm complicit in it. The fact is that Jews already know all this, and we're pretty good at figuring out whose a real ally and who is pushing their own narrative. The problem for us is that right now these very imperfect "allies" are the only people standing with us right now, as the same left-leaning folks who say that are entirely silent when I talk about antisemitism and oppression that I experience. We know what's what and we'll sort it out, but demanding Jews alienate everyone whose sticking up for us while not sticking up for us yourself is "very brave". If you're one of those left-leaning folks, then help us have the breathing room to be picky about our allies.
