As far as software being bricked locally once subscriptions are in play, everything Corel (Word Perfect, Groupwise, ETC), plus everything they bought started being bricked locally in 2001. Office from Microsoft has done this since 2010, and they totally brick your local install. Also, safety software: (antivirus, malware cleaners, registry cleaners).
