I think a huge part of it is that neither of us like the female narrator in the graphic audio. We both find her to be pretty annoying, for me, specifically the fake southern accent she's not very good at.

@acarson I liked Melody myself. I don’t remember her accent being fake, but maybe I’m just forgetting it. I read it last year.
@sapphireangel It’s pretty jarring. She speaks a lot of words with the closest thing to a neutral US accent, and then just randomly drops in words with southern pronunciation, and then goes back to her regular. It’s like, pick a team.
@acarson I think that is intentional because some words come from the southern culture.
