I'd take him more seriously on this issue if the term "self-hating Jew" hadn't been so irresponsibly thrown around for everything from mild criticism of the government of Israel to voting for the wrong politician.

@acarson well, I don’t think taking Halpern seriously is important. I don’t take him seriously.
But I do think we need to wrestle with what our communal level of tolerance is for dissent and what to do with it when it goes beyond that level.
Like the seattle JVP crew. I’ve worked professionally with at least one of them. And I did some activism with others protesting the NW detention center.
I can’t imagine doing either now.
