@sickmatter There are a whole lot of criteria that strictly speaking prevent people from voting for whoever they want to. Like age restrictions on the lower end for some positions, whether or not someone was born in the US, ETC. According to your logic, we should just have no limits on anything at all in order to preserve voter choice, and that would create all sorts of problems.
@acarson @sickmatter
Sure, and these have to be justified. I don’t see a justification for, “well, you’re good at your job and voters keep picking you, but we’re going to kick you out, anyhow”.
@TruthSandwich @sickmatter I don’t know, attempting to ban encryption is pretty serious given all the things you literally need it for. If anyone ever suceeds at this, modernity comes to a hault.
@acarson @sickmatter
It’s a stupid idea and that’s why he should be voted out.
@TruthSandwich @sickmatter Yeah maybe he should. But since when have voters done the right thing. A sizeable number of them can’t be convinced that preserving democracy overrides their getting a pony, and another sizeable number is attempting to ram their religion down our throats and wants to make it legal for their nutcases to skip vaccines. And I haven’t even gotten to things that would make other people’s lives marginally better, like an actually enforceable and enforced ADA for example.
