They could, but as of yet none of the large American social media companies are owned by the government. Tictoc essentially is at this point. So while I have concerns about a ban, doing nothing isn't really an option, and so far the concerned among us haven't proposed anything close to a solution to all this.

@acarson Agreed. What we need is a privacy law and none of the legislators are willing to give it to us.
@ppatel @acarson TikTok bans would just make VPN companies rich though. Unless the US Government is planning on banning them too.
@kev @acarson VPNs would not work here since TikTok would be banned from app stores.
@ppatel Yes, I’m in favor of robust privacy legislation with an enforcement mechanism that isn’t lawsuits.
